Ferro is a Bilbalian sea captain with his hands in the commerce of many ports of the treacherous waters of the Southern and Tilean Seas. As the captain of the Squadrista, he doesn't disdain high-risk cargo transport, often dealing with valuable and discreet shipments across the ports of Estalia and Tilea.

History[]

Convoy Duty[]

"I am glad I hired you. Else, my cargo would be halfway to Sartosa by now, and I would be a shark’s dinner on the sea floor. Your cut of the profits is right here."

—Captain Ferro to the mercenary captain who successfully escorted him to Urbimo.[1b]

In 2517 IC, Ferro acquired a highly precious cargo, which he intended to sell to a merchant he knew in Urbimo. The problem was that he feared he had spoken to the wrong people about its value.[1b]

He suspected that pirates would hunt him like a pack of dogs if they had caught wind of it, so he sought a mercenary ship to serve as his escort for the voyage -- for a reasonable share of the profits, of course.[1b]

Ferro's concerns were well-founded; they had barely left the Gulf of Pearls when the pirates were already in pursuit.[1b]

The mercenary ship successfully escorted the Squadrista to Urbimo, where an expensively dressed merchant received the valuable cargo. In return, several chests were loaded onto the Squadrista, and the mercenaries were paid with a purse of Tilean currency.[1b]

Nobody Expected the Estalian Inquisition[]

That same year, Captain Ferro had another dangerous adventure.[1c]

Salazar, an inquisitor of a Myrmidian sect, had come to Barboza as part of an investigation. He claimed that he had proof of the proliferation of a cult of heretics throughout the northern coast of Estalia, a cult responsible for a spree of Human sacrifice. He followed the trail of blood to Bilbali.[1c]

On board the Squadrista, Salazar was escorted to Bilbali but was intercepted in the bay surrounding the city by three Khornate ships, including the Axefather, a Khorne Bloodship commanded by Captain Ghaste that was escorted by two other vessels.[1c]

After a fierce naval battle, the Squadrista prevailed, and once they reached the port the heaving crowds gave the witch hunter a wide berth. The ambush was seen as just another proof of Salazar's righteousness, and he promised to give the leaders of the Khornate cult the blessing of a pyre.[1c]
