Warhammer World Map 6th Edition Black&White Illustration

This map of the Warhammer World is centered on the Great Ocean, but shows the Far Sea at the extreme left and right side of the map.

The Far Sea, known as the Jade Sea in Cathay,[3] is a large ocean located east of the Far East and west of Lustria and Naggaroth.[1a]

The island nation of Nippon and Lost Isles of Elithis both lie in the Far Sea (on the western side), while the Broken Lands and Turtle Isles lie on the eastern side. This vast ocean is the gateway to the eastern nations and island kingdoms all the way to Lustria.[3]

The Far Sea connects to the Sea of Dread at the Gates of Calith, to the southern Great Ocean at the southern tip of Lustria, and to the Boiling Sea on the western coast of Naggaroth (through which it ulimately connects to the Sea of Malice, Sea of Chill and the northern Great Ocean through the subterranean Underworld Sea).

Jade Sea[]

The eastern edge of Cathay is bordered by the Far Sea, known to the Cathayans as the Jade Sea. This vast ocean is the gateway to the eastern nations and island kingdoms all the way to Lustria. The Jade sea is home to human pirates, Dark Elf raiders and aquatic monsters, among other things, and so is regularly patroled by the Grand Dragon Fleet, commanded by the Sea Dragon Yin-Yin and harboured in the great port city of Fu-Chow. The Grand Dragon Fleet remains the main naval power in the Jade Sea, whose green sails are a symbol of order and the might of the Cathayan Empire on the high seas.[3]

The High Elves have sailed the Far Sea all the way to the Jade Sea, making contact and trading with Grand Cathay since at least 500 IC.

Ports on the Cathayan coast of the Jade Sea include the great city of Fu-Chow, Beichai and Khairith Irlean (now destroyed).

Sections[]

  • Jade Sea: the section immediately east of Grand Cathay's coast.[2]
  • Boiling Sea: the section immediately west of Naggaroth's western coast, infested with dangerous sea monsters.
  • Sea of Squalls: west of the Isthmus of Lustria
  • The Gulf of Lustria: west of the Isthmus of Lustria

Trivia[]

The Far Sea is equivalent to the real-world Pacific Ocean, while the Sea of Dread is equivalent to the Indian Ocean and the Great Ocean is equivalent to the Atlantic.
