Embalmed Ones are mummified Undead found in the barrows of the Old World. They were most notably used by the necromancer Heinrich Kemmler during his attack on Athel Loren in 2497 IC.[1a]
While the slaves of the old kings were burned alive atop great pyres, so that their essence would continue to serve in the shadow lands of the dead, those bondsmen who served the ancient kings willingly were subjected to a form of mummification.[1a]
Though the techniques used in their preservation are primitive when compared to those mastered in ancient Nehekhara, the corpses have endured centuries in a remarkably intact -- if combustible -- state.[1a]
