Dravik Vayne was a Dark Elf Champion of Slaanesh and one of the Druchii Anointed who served the thirteenth Everchosen Archaon at the start of his quest to become the next Everchosen of Chaos Undivided. He was also a former Black Ark Corsair, whose knowledge of the geography of Naggaroth aided Archaon in reaching the Altar of Ultimate Darkness.
History[]
In ages past, Vayne, along with his lover, the sorceress Sularii, had been sent by the sorceress Morathi to claim the Altar of Ultimate Darkness from the Chaos Wastes. On his Black Ark, the Citadel of Spite, he had transported the artefact, but the Chaos Gods had taken it from him during a Warpstorm in the Sea of Chaos. Beached with his remaining reavers on the shores of the Chaos Wastes, Vayne, under guidance from Sularii, dedicated himself to Slaanesh and began to build an army of slaves, seeking a way to find the Altar and his Black Ark, while wandering the Chaos Wastes. [1a]
Archaon lured Vayne with a simple promise: After he had finished his quest, all of his remaining army would be given to Vayne as slaves. Guided by the Liber Caelestior, they discovered that the Black Ark had been transported into the Iron Mountains of Naggaroth, forming a fortress that guarded the Altar. [1a] As Archaon battled both the Druchii that garrisoned the fortress and the assaulting Khornate army of Gorath the Ravager, the half-Daemonic son of Valkia the Gorequeen, Vayne hunted down the rest of the armies and was present when Archaon first stepped forward.
Afterwards, the Citadel of Spite was repurposed as a flagship for the armies of the future Everchosen to bring him to the next treasure, located on an island in the Great Eastern Ocean. In time, however, Vayne became suspicious of his master's obsession and lack of success. Driven on by Slaanesh, he sought to slay Archaon, as the Prince of Chaos had no real interest in the world ending, which would deprive him of the pleasures.[1b]
Using poison, Dravik slew a figure he had believed to be Archaon, only to learn later that it had been a simulacrum made by a Nurglite witch, who sought to use Archaon's armies for her own end. The real Archaon had been imprisoned within a mass of Chaos Spawn, where he was contacted by Khezula Sheerian, who brought him advice from the Changer of Ways. When Archaon returned, he executed his treacherous underlings.[1c]
