Nippon Heraldry 2nd Edition Ravening Hordes illustration

Heraldic symbol representing Nippon

The "Divine Sun" is the title of the reclusive, semi-divine emperor who rules the Far Eastern island empire of Nippon.[1a][2a]

Yet the real power in Nippon lies in the hands of the many feudal warlords and their retinues of warriors known as "samurai."[1a]

Like the Dragon Emperor of Grand Cathay, the Divine Sun of Nippon has recently opened formal diplomatic relations with the city-state of Marienburg in the Old World, though the Nipponese's strange customs and impenetrable language make it hard for Marienburgers to divine their intentions. However, it is clear that there is no love lost between the two Far Eastern delegations.[2a]

Trivia[]

The person of the Divine Sun is inspired by the title of the real world Emperor of Japan.
