The Council of Tilea was a Tilean religious council called by the cults of many of the faiths of the Old World Pantheon intended to resolve the important theological matters between the different creeds, even those from cults foreign to the people of Tilea like those of the Cult of Sigmar and the Cult of Ulric.[1a][2a]
One of the matters debated at the Council of Tilea was the true nature of Sigmar's ascension to divinity, encapsulated by the continuing controversy known as the Sigmarian Heresy, which held that Sigmar was not a true deity but only at best a demigod in service to Ulric, or at worst just a great -- but still very mortal -- culture hero of the Empire. The nature of Sigmar's divinity had also been discussed at numerous other theological councils among the cults of the Empire, such as at the Council of Nuln.[1a]
The underlying theology was complex in the extreme, and depended on the deep study of ancient legends and chronicles from many sources -- not all of them Human in origin -- and the very subjective interpretation of keywords and phrases in multiple ancient languages.[2a]
