The dreaded fens of Cold Mires
The Cold Mires is a large, otherworldly patch of fens, bogs and unholy swamps within the harsh and bleak lands of the dreaded Chaos Wastes, located along the coast of the Sea of Chaos. It is here where a large number of Toad Dragons can be found, hidden amongst the murky waters to swallow up anything that passes by.[1a]
The fens of the Cold Mires are located on the northern shoreline of the Sea of Chaos in the deadly lands of the Chaos Wastes.
Also encountered in the fecund Cold Mires are Bile Trolls. The Bile Trolls that haunt the Cold Mires today, although mercifully few in number, are the decendents of Raak's followers, the originator of Bile Trolls, and those among Troll-kind who have shared their fate. They are shunned and feared, even by other Trolls who, despite their infamous stupidity, do not wish to share in the curse placed upon them by the Chaos God Nurgle.[2b]
This place is also the location from which the Kurgan mutant Chaos Lord and Champion of Nurgle Tamurkhan first set off in 2510 IC to claim his destiny, the legendary Throne of Chaos, by leading a monstrous army dredged up from the depths of the Cold Mires -- hungering Bile Trolls, worm-men and hideous, nameless things dripping rot and slime.[2a]
