Charles de la Tête d'Or III is the King of Bretonnia in the alternate timeline of Warhammer Fantasy Battle prior to the 4th Edition.[6a]

Bretonnian society in that alternate timeline was falling into ruin, as a national apathy had set in and given rise to corruption, inefficiency, and decay. The Bretonnian aristocracy looked only to its own pleasures while the unruly mob of peasants starved amidst the worst squalor in the Old World.[4]

King Charles is a cruel, vain, and despotic ruler from Oisillon, the capital of Bretonnia[1a][2a]. The King intended to conduct a plundering raid over the border with the southern nation of Estalia. But the campaign drew to a muddy close. His ragtag army then headed back over the Bretonnian border in search of new volunteers.[5]

Family[]

He was son of Charles II and grandson of Charles I.[1a][2a][4]

Game History[]

The lore of the Known World changed dramatically after the release of the 4th Edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Before that, Bretonnia was ruled by a different king, Charles de la Tête d'Or III, who was replaced with Royarch Louen Leoncoeur, and the Bretonnian capital of Oisillon was moved to Castle Brionne.[1a][2a][3a]
