Caelir is one of two High Elven brothers who were both mages. Caelir was the wizard who tried to kill the Everqueen of Ulthuan, Alarielle, and nearly succeeded. He then joined his brother in the war against the Dark Elves. During the war, two of the ancient Elven mages who maintained the Great Vortex of magic on Ulthuan were killed and Caelir and his wife had to take their places to maintain the existence of the vortex.
