Bonestash was the capital of a minor Skaven sect of Clan Mors whose settlement was established underneath the minor dwarf hold of Karak Angkul. Bonestash was a sprawling warren consisting of hundreds of miles of winding tunnels, chambers and burrows. There was no rhyme or reason to the layout of the settlement, it had expanded as need had dictated, chasing deposits of warpstone, water sources and food supplies.[1c]

The staple diet for the warren was largely based upon the cave squigs and giant beetles cultivated by the large numbers of goblin slaves they kept, but the skaven weren’t above adding the occasional dwarf and the frequent goblin to their meals. The only crop they used as a supplement was a sort of bread-like fungus that seemed quite partial to skaven pellets as fertiliser.[1c]

The warren was thriving, if not exactly prospering. No less than thirty brood-mothers were actively producing litters five times a year, a statistic Rikkit Snapfang, leader of Bonestash, seemed especially proud of. The slithery little villain was expanding the treasury of his warren by selling some of his extra population on the side, most likely Clan Skaul.[1c]

The drug-peddlers were always looking for ways to expand their numbers and they’d certainly be interested in pups sired by strong Clan Mors warriors. Moreover, Skaul had certain opiates that would increase the fertility of female skaven. Seerlord Kritislik had patronised them quite heavily in his efforts to develop a strain of brood-mother that would only birth horned pups.[1c]

History[]

Recently, the settlements leader, Rikkit Snapfang has made daring attacks against the Dwarfs lower mines, hoping to finally take the richest of the Hold for himself.[1a] During the war, Rikkit has unexpectingly hired the service of Ikit Claw (previously thought to have been Kaskitt Steelgrin) and Grey Seer Thanquol as mercenaries for his personal wars. The war eventually escalated to the point where Ikit made his second Atomic Bomb, called the Doomsphere at the heart of Bonestash, meant to completely obliterate the Hold from below.[1c]

Though the machine was eventually destroyed by a Dwarf expedition sent to stop them, Queek Headtaker and an army of Clan Mors was sent to Bonestash to aid their brothers within the settlement, but Queek instead attacked the upper levels whilst most of the Dwarf warriors fought in Bonestash. Though successful at first, Queek and his army was eventually stopped when Skarbrand, an Exalted Bloodthirster, was mistakenly summoned by Grey Seer Thanquol, forcing the Skaven armies to make a hasty retreat back below. The Bloodthirster wreaked havoc amongst the Dwarfs, but was finally banished back to the Warp by the valiant efforts of Klarak Bronzehammer, who in turn was killed by Grey Seer Thanquol while the Dwarfs' back was turned.[1d]
