The sinister icon representing the Dark Elves of Naggaroth

Blood Wine is a form of wine brewed by the Dark Elves, one whose vine the grapes come from is said to smell like congealed blood. Such grapes are noted as not being native to Ulthuan, nor are any plants that smell as such.[1a]

Perhaps its origins can be traced back to the vineyards of Sylvania in the Old World, where blood grapes are unique to that region, flourishing in the tangled and thorn-ridden vine patches of the south. When fermented properly, these grapes produce a full-bodied vintage, deeply red and rich in iron. Despite the occasional grape containing a dead sparrow or a shriveled finger instead of a seed, the resulting wine is highly prized among connoisseurs.[2a][5a]

Scattered around the Dark Elven city of Clar Karond in Naggaroth are tracts of elaborate vineyards choked with grapes of the deepest crimson, harvested for the Druchii's blood wine. Wretched Human slaves tend to the vines, guarded by cruel Dark Elven warriors on horseback who enforce their commands with blades and whips.[3a]

It seems that bottles of blood wine are also consumed by the Skaven of Skavenblight with goat-cheese, at least from the time of the Black Death in 1111 IC on.[4a]
