- "One day when you are old and weak, mortal, we shall return for you. We shall drink of you. We shall revenge our beloved Elysabet! We shall bleed you and your Empire dry and when we have finished, you will be one of us. Your rotting flesh will be a feast for the crows and worms but you shall not rest. You will suffer an eternity of horror, Maximillian von Klaus. In forty years, we shall find you. We shall kill you. We will kill your sons, your people, your whole pitiful Empire."
- —Antoine von Carstein swearing revenge at the Battle of Schrolnetz Plain[1a]
Von Carstein's first known major attack on the Empire came in 2465 IC. He was defeated by a coalition of Elector Counts united by Emperor Wilhelm III at the Battle of Schrolnetz Plain. The forces were lead by Maximillian von Klaus, Grand Master of the Knights of the Blazing Sun. At this battle, his lover Elysabet was killed. He, however, escaped, and swore his revenge on von Klaus and the rest of the Empire.[1a]
After plotting his vengeance for forty years, he launched a second attack, in 2505 IC. His prize this time was the harbour town of Stuttburg, where Maximillian von Klaus had become mayor. After some small raids on isolated villages for the purposes of gaining corpses for his army, he set out for Stuttburg. When he reached the town, the defenders were ready, and an epic battle was joined.[1a]
The outcome of the Battle of Stuttburg, and thus Antoine von Carstein's fate, is not known.
