Anomoq

Anomoq is a Skink priest of Sotek active along the eastern coast of the continent of Lustria. Following a vision, he seeks to gather a warhost to travel across the World Pond and destroy Skavenblight, the capital of the Skaven Under-Empire. A number of traits mark him as blessed by the serpent god Sotek: a scarlet crest, reddish-brown scales along his back, larger and sharper teeth than the average Skink, and a set of venomous fangs.[1a]

History[]

The sole member of his spawning, Anomoq emerged from a collapsed and overgrown Old One construction far from any Lizardmen temple-city. Alone and not knowing how to survive, he nearly starved to death before a lone python slid into the chamber Anomoq had hid away in and regurgitated a partially-eaten monkey from its gut. More serpents would come and nurture him, the young priest consuming small doses of their venom and receiving visions of the Great Catastrophe, of Sotek, of the Skaven, and of a festering city half the world away brought low by thousands of reptiles like himself.[1a]

Convinced of his sacred purpose, the priest Anomoq set out to gather an army, traveling to Skink communities in the wilds and on the periphery of temple-cities. Skinks are not ones to appreciate elaborate oration, but Anomoq's appeals to sound logic -- that order can only be restored through the destruction of the Skaven -- has been enough to begin recruiting followers. His current retinue numbers one Kroxigor and seven other Skinks, including two Chameleon Skinks and the scribe Tza'tsl.[1a]

Despite his capacity for aggression as a sacred spawning of Sotek, Anomoq is patient and careful in his actions. He avoids entering temple-cities and doing anything that might rouse attention from the Slann, understanding they are unlikely to endorse his crusade. This proves problematic as the mage-priests hold the secrets of the Paths of the Old Ones which would allow Anomoq to cross the World Pond.[1a]

Wargear[]

  • Golden Snake Helm - Anomoq's priestly status is attested by his golden helm and amulets, gifts from Skink artisans.[1a]
  • Golden Staff - An ornate polearm with a snakehead motif, its forked tongue serving as a bladed tip.
  • Skull Collection - Around Anomoq's belt are several skulls from sacrificed aggressors -- Human, Skaven, and Elf alike -- inlaid with gold and jade to represent Sotek's vengeance.
  • Swarm of Serpents - Anomoq rides upon a tide of serpents and snakes bound to his will.
