"In Araby we acknowledge only One God, and no others. One God who rewards, and One who punishes. Where there are Daemons -- in the searing heat of the desert and the black shadows of the night -- the priests and prophets of our One God go to bind them to seal them in bottles of brass and bury them in the sand or throw them into the sea. I do not know what you mean when you speak of Chaos but the priests of Araby know well enough what is meant by evil, and will stamp it out wherever it appears."

Alkadi Nasreen, Caliph of Arjijil, to Orfeo the Minstrel.[2b]

Allah, also known as the "One God," or the "One True God" is worshipped as the only true god by the great majority of Arabyans. Allah is believed to manifest in the Known World through his chosen prophets.[1a]

The harsh strictures of the One God, and by extension the words of his prophets, are taken very seriously by the Arabyan common people and sultans alike, and only a very foolish or stupid individual would dare to oppose the will of a prophet of Allah. The Arabyans do trade with Old Worlders, but they have little tolerance for infidels, and on the whole, prefer to war against them.[1a][3a]

Allah frowns on luxury and sends his pestilences sparingly, to punish the faithless. Where there are Daemons, the priests and prophets of the One God venture forth to bind them, sealing them in brass bottles and burying them in the sand or casting them into the sea.[4a]

Amongst the Arabyan warriors worthy of note are the Dervishers. Dervishers are fanatical, religious warriors dedicated to the service of Allah who are all too willing to die in service to the One God.[1a]

Quotes[]

"Your story does not quite meet the qualification which I asked of it. I asked to know more about the forces which destroyed my brother, but the Power he worshipped was, by your own account, a god of luxury. I have heard naught of that god in this tale, which is concerned instead with a god of plague and pestilence. In Mahabbah, of course, we acknowledge only One True God, but that God frowns on luxury and sends his pestilences sparingly, to punish the faithless."

Alkadi Nasreen, Caliph of Arjijil, to Orfeo the Minstrel.[4a]

"You are right, Master Minstrel, I must make time for this, and hear it all. But you must swear to tell me true, for this is a matter which means more to me than you know. I swear by the One God that I will not punish you, should it transpire that you are the bearer of news that hurts me, and I swear also that if I have cause to be pleased in what I hear, then you and this boy will receive fair treatment in Arjijil."

Alkadi Nasreen, Caliph of Arjijil, to Orfeo the Minstrel.[2a]

Trivia[]

Allah is a reference to the God as worshipped in Islam. Allah is the common Arabic word for God. In English, "Allah" generally refers to God only as worshipped in Islam.

The later replacement of this name in Arabyan religion with "the One God" was most likely done to distance Warhammer from the practices of the real world religion of Islam.
