Alhaka, more commonly known as Al-Haikk (which means "City of Thieves" in Arabyan), and also called El-Haikk, is one of the four great cities of Araby. Its surrounding lands forms an independent principality ruled over by the Padishah, also known as the Great Sultan of All Araby, the Emperor of all Araby.[3a]

Arabyan corsairs demand tribute from foreign vessels that navigate the waters near Araby, although some of these ships are guaranteed safe passage by the Sultan of All Araby himself. The captains of these ships carry his seal, ensuring their protection from the corsairs.[4a]

Slavery is rampant in Araby, and the slave markets of Alhaka or Lashiek are testament to this.[6a]

History[]

Great Crusade Against Araby[]

Al Haikk

Al-Haikk as depicted in Total War Warhammer II after being captured by a Bretonnian army.[7]

During the Great Crusades, after frustrating months of minor skirmishes, the Bretonnians faced Jaffar at the Battle of Al-Haikk. Elemental spirits of the deep desert, known as Djinn, were summoned to fight alongside Jaffar's armies. Despite being vastly outnumbered, the Bretonnians achieved a great victory, scattering the despot's forces. Disliking the harsh, dry land that proved too vast and hostile to be properly conquered, the Bretonnians sailed back home with their cargo holds filled with exotic treasure and spoils.[1a][2a]

At this time, a vampire of the Lahmians named Serutat had the ear of many in Araby’s court. Historians who pry into these matters find in Lahmians only their downfall, and many curious scholars have come to curious ends investigating things best left unknown.[8a]

Notable Locations[]

Elf Enclave[]

Al-Haikk hosts an Elf enclave dominated by House Emeraldsea of Lothern and Clan Aisellion of Marienburg. Countless scholars are drawn here by the mysteries of the Southlands.[9a] From Al-Haikk and Copher, Elves trade rare goods, spices, and artifacts from the Southlands.[9b]
