Aguilas also known as Aquilia, is the southernmost of the old port cities in eastern Estalia within Aquilas Bay.[1a][2a]
For centuries, this Estalian city-state has been a centre for trade with a good, deep harbour. It is also famed for its drydocks and shipyards, which provide many vessels for the Estalian Navy.[1a]
The heraldry of the city is a full-sailed barque accompanied by two leaping dolphins.[1a]
History[]
The city suffered from the lack of ships sailing and trading when the Butcher Ship roamed the seas and would refit and resupply the Reivers who Lorenzo Lupo, Prince of Luccini had tasked with tracking down the Daemon vessel and destroying it.[1b]
Geography[]

Heraldry of Aguilas as described in Fell Cargo (Non-canon)
The great city climbs away up the slopes of the bay: the sea quarters, the market places, the higher streets of the old town, the refined districts where the gentry live, all the way up to the crown of the volcanic plug where the Palacio sits lowering across the bay. The church bells ring their alarms when a threat menaces the city.[1a]
Notable Locations[]

Map of Aguilas as described in Fell Cargo (Non-canon)
- Del Campo - Hills clad in olive groves.[1a]
- High Old Town - Domain of the grandees of the city, the High Old Town has quiet narrow streets, whitewashed haciendas and walled gardens with orange trees to scent the air.[1c]
- Palacio - The palace of the Marquis of Aguilas sits atop a volcanic plug, high above the main settlement that climbs up its flanks from the bay and its huge deep harbour. It has a flower garden, a paved area out in the bright sunshine, with a small sundial in the centre. The library of the palacio is where the marquis' guests can study almanacs and waggoners and other rare volumes concerning the nature of the sea and all that is in and under it.[1a]
- Sea Walls - Heavily fortified and lined with cannon, the sea wals enabled the Aquilas to see off pirates, raiders and even sieges by fleets from Araby.[1a]
- Witchhouse - On the edge of the bay in an old townhouse with strange glyphs on the gate, lies the Witchhouse. Once inside two girls, astonishingly tall and voluptuous, stand at the end of the hallway. Both are so nearly naked that the wisps of lace that dressed them seem like an afterthought. Their duty is to introduce the guests to the circular room beyond where the witch waits for them. She is surprisingly young, dark-skinned, her hair gathered up in a silk scarf. Her small card table is covered in purple cloth of silk, upon which the signs of the zodiac have been embroidered in silver thread.[1c]
Notable Inhabitants[]
- Duero - Captain of the Aquilas Marine Guard.[1a]
- Hernan - Captain of the warship Fuega who previously fought Luka Silvaro.[1b]
- Juan Narciso - The Marquis of Aguilas, splendid in his robes of gold thread and wearing a silver crown. He is the cousin of Giordano Paolo, son of the Prince of Luccini.[1a]
- Sandalio Narciso - A fat nephew of the marquis.[1b]
Trivia[]
The name Aguilas was changed to Aquilia by Forge World, which is working on Warhammer: The Old World. This may have been done to differentiate it from the real municipality of Águilas in southern Spain, which was also once called Aquila.
