Emir Abd al Wazaq was the last Arabyan ruler of Sartosa.[1a]
History[]
Abd al Wazaq was defeated in 1501 IC by a mercenary army from Luccini under the leadership of the Tilean prince, Luciano Catena, who recaptured the island from the Arabyan Corsairs. Al Wazaq and his men were driven back to the refuge in the city of Sartosa, where they were forced to surrender after a long, bloody siege. The Tilean mercenary general granted them free retreat - albeit without their riches and accumulated spoils of war - and the emir returned defeated to Araby.[1a]
It is known that in his desperation the emir had his enormous harem trained as his personal bodyguard, and that the ladies of the harem, whom he had to leave behind as well as his enormous treasures, were promptly hired as mercenaries by the Tileans. This was the first time Arabyans had been hired by Tileans as mercenaries.[1a]
As a result, the Luciano Catena family ruled Sartosa for several generations, during which the city was rebuilt and was a base for Luccini's mercenary fleet.[1a]
