In order to ensure the best quality in this site, I wish for all contributors to follow these three simple guidelines when creating or editing a wiki page.
1) Introduction Paragraph
Each and every article is required to have an introduction paragraph that gives a very brief summary on the details of the article. The first sentence in this paragraph MUST also follow a certain format when being written. It follows as such:
(Name of Article Title), (other names/titles), and (brief summary).
So if I were to make an introduction paragraph for Khorne, it should follow as such:
- "Khorne, known also as the Blood God, the Lord of Battles and the Hunter of Souls, is the Chaos God of War, Death, Courage, Rage, Strength and Hate. His domain of power encompasses the most basic and brutal of sentient emotion and every act of killing is said to empower Him, the more vicious and bloodthirsty the better. The name 'Khorne' is a derivative of His name in the Dark Tongue -- Kharneth; which means "Lord of Rage." Khorne is Lord of War and Death, but also Lord of Martial Honour and Excellence at Arms. He is said to smile upon feats of valour, strength and blood-drenched warrior skill, and is the patron of proud warriors who set themselves against the odds and emerge triumphant through strength and skill. Khorne is said to exalt the brave of both sides of the battle, while at the same time laying his terrible vengeance upon the cowardly and craven."
- "
2) Sections, Pictures and Categories
Articles that become too long can be divided into different sections or headings if a contributor wishes. A section should ONLY be made if it has at least a paragraph worth of content (certain exceptions may apply). Having less than a paragraph's worth of content is not worth using up a section. Keep it simple.
Pictures uploaded onto an article are required to take up NO MORE than half the given page in terms of width and must be shown at the right side always. Pictures that are uploaded must contain full, keyworded names for easier use. Pictures must be official work used by either Games Workshop, Fantasy Flight Games or any other company with the Warhammer license. Fan-art is not allowed to an extent unless used by either companies or is approved by an Admin of the wiki. Pictures of minatures are okay.
When you add categories, please insert as few of them as possible and make sure its relevant. Use categories that are already linked to other categories so as to reduce the amount used. Also, each page should also have the first letters of the title article as a category as well. If the title is "Karl Franz", then you should have the "K" and "L" category in it. They must be capital letters.
3) Citations and Reliability
Since the Warhammer Fantasy universe is VERY deep and many parts of it have been either erased, replaced or retconned, it is considered of the uptmost importance that each article is cited accordingly in order to show our users that the content written is legitmate and up-to-date. It is also good practice to use the latest edition or version of the book.
It is also important that we are as precise in our citations as we possibly can be, and as such it is a requirement that every single piece of information within our wiki is cited by a Warhammer source material. As such, pages that don't have citations will be removed within a week or so of being created. Citations are required.
When citing an article page, each paragraph MUST have at least one citation. These citations MUST be specified in the page number of the source material, not JUST the material itself. To do this, you MUST be in source editor and would have to use the Fn and Endn templates to do so.
Example:
- "Deathclaw is the loyal and personal mount of Emperor Karl Franz of the Empire and reputed to be the mightiest Griffon to have ever lived."
The sentence above is a direct quote from the Empire 8th Edition Armybook and in order to cite it, you would have to first make a Source section at the very bottom of the Wiki where you would put all of your citations.
Example Section
The above example section is an excellent example of a proper citation source section. Remember, the [1] or {{Endn|1}} citation is meant only for the title of the source material. You MUST use the [1a] or {{Endn|1a}} when you cite any piece of material in your article. If you have multiple cites on the same source material, change the [1a] to [1b] and so forth. If your using a completely different source material, you must make another set and change to the next number like [2a] or [3a]. The source code itself should look like this.
So if we were to put it all together it would look like this:
- Deathclaw is the loyal and personal mount of Emperor Karl Franz of the Empire and reputed to be the mightiest Griffon to have ever lived.[1a]
