Sadly, Storm of Chaos was replaced by ET.
Almost all of the Eternity King + Athel Loren stuff is in End Times: Archaon and End Times: The Lord of the End Times.
Go suck Teclis's dick and beg him to come set up some waystones.
Yeah I have no idea why the page sources to the God-King novel, but Morkar's invasion is briefly described in 6e Hordes of Chaos, pg. 103-104. Morkar falling to Sigmar is specifically mentioned in 7th and 8th Warriors of Chaos as well.
It was originally implied in the third book in the Von Carstein trilogy, "Retribution". Mannfred does mention it specifically in Return of Nagash.
Yes, they are intelligent.
It's so they could copyright the name. You can't copyright "Elf" or "Dwarf" any more than you can copyright "dog". They did it with 40k too, changed Eldar -> Aeldar.
It's part of the rebrand. Same reason why Elves are now Aelves, and Dwarfs are now Duardin.
They also share a common ancestor with dragons.
Yes, as I said—it is very flashy. They focused on visuals and marketability, and for that, the core gameplay suffered.
(CA also outsourced the vast majority of the asset-creation to independent contractors, so it doesn't actually take that much time.)
"[Insert objectively false statement]. Shut up."
Spoken like a true ignoramus.
Yeah bro don't be critical just consooom.
CA has been dumbing down their games for years. Who cares about in-depth mechanics and methodical gameplay, look at the pretty colors!
Alive Kroak had basically no equal, but dead Kroak is nowhere near his previous power. Dead Kroak only can use 1 spell and can't defend himself in any capacity.
Pre-ET Nagash is only slightly better than Teclis, so he's not quite as all-powerful as people claim. Presumably this also means Nagash when he was about to enact his Great Ritual, not when his soul was slowly dying in Nagashizzar or much reduced fighting against Smegmar.
Depends what you mean by "become". Any prospective dark elf would need to basically be embedded in HE society with a completely fabricated backstory and family, much like Urian was. There might be DE who want to become High Elves, or at least live in their society on Ulthuan, but functionally it would be almost impossible.
Dark Elves and cultists are killed on sight, and even if some deserter/defector was granted a pardon by the phoenix king, he would still be a leper in HE society, similar to shadow warriors, but to an even greater degree.
The closest we ever got to a legit DE->HE "defector" was that Urathion guy during the Sundering, who warned the HE mages about Malekith's plan and immediately got assassinated by Malekith, (which I imagine would be the result for anyone who legitimately tried to defect). Urian was best poised to be the first Dark Elf who became a High Elf, but a) he didn't, and b) Malekith would have him assassinated or just burn him.
There is an instance of a HE becoming a DE, Kaldor in the Tears of Isha supplement, and of course all the original Dark Elves were High Elves, and Malekith accepted and used dozens of defectors during his wars. HE -> WE and DE -> WE conversion is also well documented, most of the original WE being HE with some DE shades mixed in. Malekith's wife Allisara also effectively became a wood elf, living in Athel Loren for a few thousand years.
I also recall reading some sort of legend/folk tale of a young prince coming to live in Athel Loren, whose father was a great elven king of ulthuan. The king came with a large host to recall his son, but the son had already become one of the wood elves, and refused to leave. They fought a big battle and father and son both died on each other's swords.
Since we know the names of all the Phoenix Kings and the manner of their deaths, this probably didn't happen—but you can sort of headcanon it as maybe being an important ruling prince and he became a king through mistranslation or poetic license.
If you can find a pdf of the 8th edition core book, read from pg. 156 - 269. It contains the major historical events of the world as well as an overview of each race.
From there, read the armybooks of the races you find most interesting. After that, read the novels associated with the particular race/faction.
Karaghul can't even cut through Chaos Armor.
The only advantage it has over a regular sword is that it doesn't get dull and can damage daemons. It doesn't do anything else.
Felix's sword is good in one specific circumstance—if there is a dragon in his immediate proximity. Outside of that circumstance it simply functions as a very well-made weapon that doesn't need to be maintained.
>Didn't Gotrek eventually send the Bloodthirster flying into Be'lakor?
It got very angry and charged Be'lakor, yes.
>And Felix then cut Be'lakor's arm off.
No, the bloodthirster did.
>Also, you still didn't explain the detail about bloodletters being able to kill a dragon with a single blow.
I have no idea what the source for that is, the lexicanum doesn't give one, but the only way a Bloodletter is killing a dragon with a single blow is if it's a baby dragon.
>Also Gotrek and Felix defeated a Bloodthirster which is a Greater Daemon mind you in the Chaos Wastes where they should be stronger
Gotrek literally has an axe made to kill daemons. And most of the time he needs help. The Bloodthirster was about to crush Gotrek's skull and eat his brain when Felix got divine help to blast the daemon with a magic dwarf hammer. Then, as it was distracted with Felix, Gotrek hacked through its torso with his god-weapon.
"There followed another flurry of blows that were too fast for the eye to follow. They ended with Gotrek’s axe being knocked from his hand. As the dwarf stood there, staggering, barely upright, the Bloodthirster smashed down with a mighty fist, slamming the Slayer to the ground. Gotrek fell prostrate at the daemon’s feet. All hope fled from Felix’s heart."
"The Bloodthirster had bent down now over Gotrek, as it had over Thangrim. It reached down and enveloped the fallen Slayer’s head with one mighty hand. Slowly it lifted him upwards. Felix knew what was coming next. The daemon would squeeze the dwarf’s head until his skull shattered like a melon, then it would consume his brain and eat his immortal soul."
"‘Help me, Sigmar of the Hammer,’ Felix howled with a fervour which he had not felt since he was a frightened child. ‘Help me, Grungni! Help me Grimnir! Help me, Valaya! Help me! Help me, damn you!’
At the invocation of the gods’ names, the runes on the hammer flickered and fire leapt back into them. It was heavy at first but weighed progressively less as he lifted it, as if some other force was lending him the strength to overcome its vast weight."
"‘Oi! You! I haven’t finished with you yet!’ roared Gotrek’s voice from behind it. The monstrous head of his great, ancient axe suddenly protruded through the Bloodthirster’s chest. As it did so, the daemon began to come apart, in a shower of red and gold sparks which transformed into stinking vapour."
>Gotrek scared the crap out of a Keeper of Secrets in Elfslayer by showing no fear of death and it ran away like a little bitch
It was scared of Gotrek's axe, not Gotrek himself. Gotrek also suffered severe internal damage from 1 hit from the KoS.
"But then, before either spells or counter-spells could be completed, the daemon smashed Gotrek in the chest with an armoured fist the size of a boulder and sent him flying back again. This time the Slayer hit the platform shoulder-first and skidded backwards towards the edge – straight through the purple powder boundary of the binding circle, wiping it away. Blood welled from the Slayer’s nose and mouth as he came to a stop. He didn’t move."
Once again, the daemon is preoccupied with Felix, and Gotrek uses the opportunity to hack into its spine with his magic god-axe. Only then does the daemon retreat.
"The daemon loomed over her, raising new arms, but then, just as her fate seemed sealed, a red-crested figure staggered out of the shadows, then leapt up and buried its axe in the base of the daemon’s spine. ‘Die, spawn of the abyss!’ roared the Slayer, blood bubbling from his mouth with every word."
"The daemon glared down at Gotrek as the Slayer stumped doggedly after it. ‘No, little one. I will not fight you. This is not my fate. One greater than I is to die killing you. In the meanwhile, I will relish your disappointment.’"
During the final confrontation, Gotrek had both of the Axes of Grimnir and both of the Runes of Unbinding activated. One would certainly hope he could kill a Bloodthirster with that.
"‘The Rune of Unbinding was crafted to slay the Chaos Gods,’ said Grimnir, returning the reawakened axe to Gotrek’s grip. ‘You’ll find it useful.’"
"Its weapons beat against Gotrek’s axes like hammers striking an anvil. Conflicting magicks produced sparks of scarlet and gold, and occasionally the almighty coming together of blades evinced a shockwave that sent daemons flying and cracked the surrounding stone. The presence of both of Grimnir’s axes and the activation of the Rune of Unbinding had made a more even contest than had been the case when these two had last crossed paths within the bowels of Karag Dum, but to Felix’s snap impression the raw ferocity and overwhelming power of the Bloodthirster still held the advantage."
The Chaos Gods are constantly fighting an eternal war against one another in the Realm of Chaos. This results in an infinite amount of dead daemons. They just go to the Forge of Souls.
