Hey,if the ogres come out for total war warhammer 3,so what are you thinking about they unit roster, settlements, missions and lords
I think they would start with Greasus Goldtooth , settlements wouldn't be permanent and they would be a semi horde faction.I hope they would uptade other horde like factions.Missions would be based around praising their ravenous dirty diety of gluttony by destroying rival tribes or by eliminating a greenskin WAAGH! or by raiding a rich caravans .
Their army is in its basics a bunch of beast warriors or beasts raiding other bigger beasts with some gnoblars. They wouldn't be immune to the Spears or Halberds and they would suffer without food in very short period of time.
First of all they're a migrating race, constantly on the move. So naturally they've to be a horde nation (will hopefully also allow CA to enhance the horde mechanic of the already existing horde nations, Chaos and Beastmen, but that remains to be seen).
Secondly, their units will mostly consist of large Ogres (Ironguts, Maneaters, Butchers, etc) along with the more monstrous species of their kind (Gorgors, Yhetees) and then the (monstrous) cavalry (Sabretusks, Mournfang Cavalry, Rhinox Riders).
The bulk of their forces however, will consist of hordes of Gnoblars. Much like the Orcs have the Goblins.
This may add a new dilemma to the game: how will they approach sieges? The powerhouse of your forces can't climb walls so that has to be adjusted too, through implementing a special mechanic for sieges for the Ogres or something along those lines.
With the recently added unit for the Skaven which has the 'Can attack Walls' attribute it can be possible that that will affect the Ogre units too.
Greasus Goldtooth will certainly be added. It would be cool if CA implemented a sort of Tyrant mechanic which basically means a Ogre Tyrant (generic lord) has to prove himself through succeeding in multiple quests (defeating said Lord, raiding such amounts, etc) in order to become a fully fledged Ogre Tyrant. This will give the Ogre Tyrant certain traits, either for the faction as a whole or for his army.
Last but not least a new lore of magic will be added, namely Gut magic.
^These are my thoughts as of now. Don't know if any of this will become reality.
Lots of monstrous infantry and monstrous cavalry. I don’t believe they’re gonna be a horde faction though.
I see you're probably Portuguese, I'm pretty Portuguese myself (judging by thy name)
How would CA avoid the fact that all ogres are basically large units? As far as multiplayer goes someone would be able to spam anti-large and counter a huge part of their roster
Well Gnoblars are gonna play a key role in absorbing a lot of damage and charges for the already beefy ogres. There isn’t much variety in the ogre infantry itself because the focus of the army is in its monstrous cavalry which are supposed to be the best of all factions. When they get introduced in game 3, they should be putting the halberd demigryphs to shame just to give a perspective on how devastating they’re supposed to be. Another key part of the faction is their inherently large charge bonus across most of their units due entirely to their massive size and brute strength.
Another important thing to note is that the ogres’ gut magic is not reliant on the winds of magic, but neither is Waaagh magic from the greenskins. Unless we see a change to greenskins magic in the upcoming rework, I highly doubt that they will separate the ogre mages into a different system and instead opt for lumping them in with the rest of the lores of magic to be reliant upon the winds of magic we currently have in the game.
^ Well said.
That said though, Greasus Goldtooth is a more 'modern' Ogre Overtyrant in the way that he acknowledges the benefits of barter and trade over being a pillaging mindless horde of brutes.
So I don't know, it may open up a way for the Ogres to recruit certain mercenaries into their roster.
They already got a tribe which houses a bunch of Halfling cooks permantely......so who knows.
Not saying that Halfling cooks are the perfect mercenaries...but you know. 😅
Halfling cooks are scary beasts, more Savage then gorgers and more hungry then ogres
What do you think?
